Een kleurrijk stadje schilderen. 

“Kleurrijke Stadjes Kunst” is waar ik soms op googel en als ik die kleurrijke stadjes in de kunst bekijk, word ik helemaal vrolijk. Net als dat ik begin aan het schilderen van een kleurrijk stadje, dan ben ik net zo goed super enthousiast, maar tegelijkertijd in complete paniek zoals ook bij een abstract schilderij. Dat gevoel is elke keer hetzelfde en het is een heerlijk gevoel…

maar het schept wel chaos in mijn hoofd…

Dus probeer ik dan orde te scheppen in deze chaos door vloeiende lijnen te trekken en door harmonie te brengen in de felle kleuren, maar de spanning in het schilderij moet wel blijven bestaan. Dat doe ik door de vloeiende lijnen toch hier en daar te onderbreken. Het moeten ronde, kromme, gebogen lijnen zijn, echter een enkele rechte lijn kan hierin de juiste spanning brengen.

De eerste tekening is een krabbel zoals gekras van een kind.

Door licht en schaduw toe te voegen onstaan er daken, muren of vloeren. Op het eerste gezicht is er dan harmonie, maar de chaos blijft bestaan, want het is deels onduidelijk wat het dak is en wat de muur is. Toch wil ik dat het lijkt alsof je het zou kunnen bouwen.

Verder mogen de kleuren niet pastel zijn, ze mogen dus niet zweven. Een pastelkleurige wereld bestaat niet. De wereld is niet lief en zoet. Ik hou van diepe, volle kleuren. Dit effect kun je niet bereiken door in één keer de juiste kleur erop te zetten, maar ontstaat door er telkens een nieuwe laag overheen te schilderen.

Het lijkt een prachtig, felgekleurde stad, maar van dichtbij bekeken, is het onmogelijk deze wereld te bouwen.

Mijn stadjes zijn meestal in het donker, maar wel heel gekleurd. Er zijn geen mensen op straat en de maan schijnt. Je ziet altijd het licht op de stad schijnen en dat geeft de stemming weer van de stad. Deze stemming bepaalt meestal de titel van het schilderij.
