Painting a Splash

Splashes always had a very strong attraction to me. Even as a child I thought it was wonderful to look in a pond on the street,

or even better in a pond of mud,

smering around. All the different movements which you can see in the liquid, so wonderful.

Of course I have to paint them now and than, but they never reach the stage that I actually want them to be. How wonderful it will be to paint the split-second moment of the splash itself jumping in the air.

You would think you have to paint splashes with very thin paint or perhaps very thick brushes, but that not always works. Sometimes I really have to use small brushes to paint all the details of tiny drips and traces.
