Realism in Painting
When people say they like to learn to paint, what they mostly mean is to paint something that looks “real”, like in realistics, but if it is too hyper-realistic,
it is better to hang a photo on the wall, I think.
I like the idea that it is visible that it is a painting and not a photograph.
Copying what you see is not necessary to paint realistic. You can use your creativity and still have a quality of realism in your painting.
Painting realistics really takes it’s time. The Alpha Romeo for instance took me over 40 hours to realize and that is only a small canvas.
Realism is not about copying a object or an envirement just as it is. You have to compose and select until the composition is right.
I also do paintings on commission.
